There’s never a bad time for a pizza party, even during a pandemic. A study by The Top Network took a closer look at what pies American consumers have gravitated toward during the new normal of carry-out, delivery and contactless COVID pizza purchasing. The study’s results were derived from cell phone location data, analyzed from in-store visits only. And, the LloydPans innovation team is here to share which chains came out on top.
The “Pizza Pizza” giant, Little Caesars, was the chain that most pizza lovers have dialed up since mid-March in almost half of the country, according to the survey. Papa John’s “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza” tagline got consumers in nine states dialing their phones, coming in second in the survey. Rounding out the top three was Domino’s Pizza. This nationwide favorite was worth the wait in the eyes of Americans in seven states. Fast food chains as a whole are doing well in COVID times, considering the challenges that the pandemic brings.
With more consumers opting to grab-and-go, getting in and out of a brick and mortar location with a fresh, hot pie is not only cost-effective, but effective as a less contact choice. Even though it should come as no surprise that overall in-store sit-down visits are down, they’re not out. COVID of course has changed the way consumers are eating pizza, especially with local, family-style dining experiences, but the future is tasty with more jobs coming to the market in terms of delivery drivers, cooks, shift leaders, managers and virtual call center agents, according to QSRMagazine. Sales remain positive, which is as delicious as a mouth watering deep dish, vegan, thin crust or New York style pie.
