Sure, pepperoni, sausage, peppers and olives are delicious. We love mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce and regional pizzas coming hot out of American-based ovens. But, there’s always room for more tastes, smells and delights in pizza, and global influences are making mouthwatering waves across the country.

Technomic reported in April that 43% of American eat pizza at least once a week, and Euromonitor International reported that pizza reached $154.8 billion in global sales in 2019. Bold, ethnic flavors and global cuisines are hotly trending in the pizza market — especially “non-conventional combinations, particularly those featuring spicier foods and ingredients sourced from a variety of global cuisines.”

There are more than 95,000 pizza outlets — specifically pizzerias, Italian pasta and pizza restaurants — in the United States, leaving plenty of room for innovation, competition and ‘za centric recipes. The LloydPans innovation team took on the tough task of narrowing down some of our favorite globally-influenced pizzas, and we couldn’t be happier to share the inspiration.

Korean Beef Pizza

You may be used to having Korean beef as barbecue fare, but the meat ingredient has made its way to American pizza. Pizza maker Bradley Corbin shared his award-winning pizza recipe with PMQ Pizza Magazine earlier this year, complete with a video tutorial for even more enticement. Korean beef is traditionally one of the most expensive meats in the world, so luckily this recipe offers a less expensive version with crumbled ground beef and Korean barbecue sauce. This uniquely-topped pizza also includes fresh scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds and carrots.

Lamb Sausage Pizza

For a meaty twist, look to countries like Mongolia, New Zealand, Iceland and Greece, where lamb is a popular fare. Pizza Today offered up its make-your-own lamb sausage recipe, complete with cumin, oregano, cayenne, smoked paprika and minced garlic. Fry it up, salt as needed and crumble on your next pie.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken Pizza

If you’ve ever traveled to the Caribbean, you’ve likely tasted hot, spicy jerk sauce, a rub native to Jamaica. Pizza Today’s jerk chicken pizza recipe includes jalapeno, cilantro, coconut milk and pineapple, reminiscent of an island getaway.

Inspired by these recipes or have your own internationally-inspired twist you’re dying to share with the masses? LloydPans pizza tools, disks and pans are here to help serve up the world’s tastes in your own kitchen.
